寄稿時(shí)，一般附信一封。內(nèi)容主要是介紹稿件特點(diǎn)，并提合理要求。附言必須寫得：簡潔一一不超過500字；明確一一避免誤解；禮貌一措辭委婉。許多期刊都刊有編輯姓名，寫信前查清消楚，盡量避免用Dear Sir作收信人稱呼。
例一：
今寄去稿件“嬰幼兒闌尾包塊”一份，不知貴刊能否刊登。
拙稿是本人治療該病10年的總結(jié)。一般說來，闌尾包塊的治療方法有保守治療和手術(shù)治療，我們傾向保守療法。對(duì)患者采用保守療法,效果良好。
如蒙發(fā)表，此方法可能在貴刊引起討論。請(qǐng)將同行們的意見告訴我。
如不發(fā)表，煩請(qǐng)將稿退回。
I wish to submit the enclosed manuscript "Appendix Mass in the Very Young Child" for consideration of its suitability for publication in your Journal.
This manuscript summarizes my experience in 10-year treatment of the disease. In general, the approach towards the treatment of appendix mass has been either nonoperative or operative. But we favor the former in a child presenting with an appendix mass. We feel that such a patient will respond to such management with lower morbidity.
If published, this approach may be discussed in your Journal. Would you kindly forward me the comments from pediatricians?

例二：
隨信寄去稿件“陰道式子宮切除術(shù)后早期異位妊娠”，一式兩份。能否在貴刊發(fā)表，請(qǐng)酌。本文定稿，業(yè)經(jīng)全體作者審閱，并予認(rèn)可。作者保證稿件的真實(shí)性以及研究工作的科學(xué)價(jià)值。除《美國婦產(chǎn)科雜志》外，本稿不投給其它任何期刊。如不采用，煩請(qǐng)寄回。
