"When the water enters the stomach, it evaporates the refined energy and spread it to the spleen above; and the spleen spreads the essence into the lung above; the lung energy communicates with the water way, and transports the essence to the bladder. In this way, with the production, circulation activity of the vital energy and the promotion of the water, the refined energy spreads to the skin and hair of the whole body, they circulate in the channels of the five viscera and being kept in accordance with the variations of the motion and motionless of Yin and Yang of five viscera in the different seasons, and this is the normal condition of the channels.

"When the channel of Taiyang is solely over-abundant, adverseness of asthenic-energy and dyspnea will occur. This shows Yin is insufficient and Yang is having a surplus, the purgation of superficies and interior should be applied: prick the Shugu (Shu Bone) point of the lower Shu-point of the Bladder Channel and the Taixi (Big Stream) point of the lower Shupoint of the kidney channel.

"If the Yangming channel is solely over-abundant, and the Yang energy is very abundant and sthenic which should be purged by pricking the Xiangu (Sinking Vallgy)point of the Foot Yangming Channel, and Foot Taiyin Channel should be invigorated by pricking the Taibai (Grand White) point.

"If the Shaoyang Channel is solely over-abuudant. chaotic energy will occur, so the Shaoyang Channel which is in front of the Yangjiao Channel becomes large suddenly, and one should prick the Linqi (Fall Tears) point of the Shaoyang Channel.

"When the Shaoyang Channel is solely over-abundant, it shows the Shaoyang is excessive. When the Taiyin Channel is solely over-abundant, it should be examined carefully: if the channel-energies of the five visera are reducing, and the stomach-energy can not be kept in order, it is because the Taiyin is excessive, In treating, the Foot Yangming Channel

should be invigorated by pricking the Xiangu (Sinking Velley) and the Foot Taiyin channel should be purged by pricking the Taibai (Grand White) point.

"If the second Yin channel is solely over-abundant, it is caused by the cold extremities due to heat-evil of Shaoyin and asthenic Yang above, and the energies of heart, spleen, liver and lung are contending. When the evil-energy is in the kidney, both the superficies and interior on the channel should be treated, the Foot Taiyang Channel should be purged by

pricking the Kunlun (Big and High) point on the channel and the Feiyang (Flying up) point on the collateral, and invigorate the Foot Shaoyin Channel by pricking the Fuliu (Repeating Slip) point of the channel and the Dazhong (Big Bell) point on the collateral points.

"If the first Yin Channel is solely over-abundant, it is dominated by the Jueyin Channel, and the healthy energy is insufficient. The patient will feel ache in the heart, and his retained adverse energy will combat with the healthy energy, and he often has spontaneous perspiration. In this case, one should take care of adjusting the food and drink, and treat

with medicine in concert. When applying acupuncture, The Taichong (Great Rush) point of Jueyin Channel should be pricked."

Yellow Emperor asked: "What is the pulse condition of the Taiyang Channel like?" Qibo said:"The Taiyang Channel is abundant like that of the three-Yang channels, but at the same time, it is light and floating." Yellow Emperor asked: "What is the condition of the Shaoyang Channel like?"Qibo said: “It is like the first Yang channel which is slippery and not

substantial." Yellow Emperor asked: "What is the pulse condition of the Yangming Channel?" Qibo said: "It is large and floating like the heart pulse. When the pulse of the Taiyin Channel pulsates, its pulse condition is sunken and hidden, but it hits the fingers substantially; when the pulse of the second Yin Channel pulsates, it is the appearance of the sunken and not floating like that of the Kidney pulse.
