除了倍數(shù)增加和減少的譯法外，有時(shí)還需注意數(shù)量、分?jǐn)?shù)，百分比等增加或減少的翻譯問題，但這些問題一般來說比較簡單，不致產(chǎn)生重大的誤譯。

數(shù)量與百分比等的增減，一般用表示增加或減少意義的動(dòng)詞+介詞to (up to)或by來表示，介詞to (up to)表示增加到某一數(shù)量或百分比，介詞by表示純?cè)鰷p的數(shù)量或百分比。翻譯時(shí)主要應(yīng)注意這兩個(gè)介詞所表示的數(shù)量的區(qū)別。

舉例說明：

1. By using some new drugs the incidence of the disease hos been reduced to and cost of medication--by 70%.

由于使用一些新的藥物，此病的發(fā)病率已降至1%，而醫(yī)療費(fèi)用降低了70%。

2. As a result the incidence of infectious diseases was reduced by 60%.

結(jié)果傳染病的發(fā)病率降低了 60%。

3. The patient starred off with 15 mg of thyroid extract daily for one week and increased it by 15 mg every week up to a total dose of 100 to 200 mg per day.

患者開始時(shí)每日使用甲狀腺劑15毫克，為時(shí)一周。以后每周增加15毫克，直至每日總劑量達(dá)到100至200毫克為止。

4. The number of patients suffering from the disease has decreased by 40% to only about 1000 this year.
