所謂疊用結(jié)構(gòu)，也可稱為雙重搭配，實際上是一種因省略成分所引起的分隔現(xiàn)象。筆者稱這種語法現(xiàn)象為疊用結(jié)構(gòu)，語法書上一般沒有專門的叫法。

疊用結(jié)構(gòu)的句子中，往往有兩個相同或不同詞性的詞(例如，兩個介詞或一個介詞和一個動詞或分詞等)合用一個賓語，或者兩個相同或不同詞性的詞甚至兩個不同的句子合用一個共同的成分。這種重疊結(jié)構(gòu)起著簡化句子的作用，常用并列連詞and, or, but等或從屬連詞if,though等作為連接的手段。疊用結(jié)構(gòu)通常為獨立成分(即用逗號點開），但有時(特別當(dāng)兩個介詞合用一個賓浯時）也可不獨立。

疊用結(jié)構(gòu)的翻譯要視具體情況而定，有時需重復(fù)原文中某一成分。

為了便于了解這種結(jié)構(gòu)，試舉一例說明：

This sound occurs at the time of, or shortly after, the pressure rise in the left ventricle.

[譯文]這種心音在左室壓力升高時或在升高后不久產(chǎn)生。

[說明]上句中的重疊結(jié)構(gòu)為or shortly after,介詞of和after合用賓語the pressure rise,此句的非簡化形式應(yīng)為：This sound occurs at the time of the pressure rise in the left ventricle, or shortly after the pressure rise in the left ventricle.

疊用結(jié)構(gòu)用法和譯例：

1. Eczema is not a specific disease, and the term has been, and still is, used in different sense by different writers.

[譯文]濕疹不是一種特殊的疾病，這一術(shù)語向來被而且現(xiàn)在仍被不同的作者用于不同的概念。

2. It is difficult, if not impossible, to give a short satisfying definition or a granuloma.

[譯文]對肉芽腫下一個簡短而令人滿意的定義，雖非不可能，但也是困難的。

3. It has been realized for many years that the inside of most, if not all. cells is at a different electrical potential from that of the medium surrounding it.

[譯文]多年來一直認為：大多數(shù)(即使不是全部)細胞的電位與其周圍的介體不同.

4. Nevertheless, the spleen is an important organ clinically; and disturbance of its function seems to be associated with, if not the actual cause of, certain important disease.
